The 7 Most Common Mistakes, and How to Avoid Them

Even experienced AI users make these mistakes regularly. Recognize them, and avoid them starting today.

1. The 'Just Do It' Prompt

'Write a blog post about AI' - no audience, no focus, no style. The AI produces generic text nobody wants to read.

Solution: Use the CRAFT framework. Even 2-3 extra sentences make an enormous difference.

2. Cramming Everything Into One Prompt

Four different tasks in one prompt overwhelm the AI and dilute every single result.

Solution: One complex task per prompt. Break large projects into logical steps.

3. Not Specifying the Audience

Without an audience, the AI writes for an imaginary average reader. The result fits nobody properly.

Solution: Always specify: 'For CEOs without technical background' or 'For experienced patent attorneys'.

4. Accepting the First Answer

90% of AI users take the first response. They're leaving enormous potential on the table.

Solution: Plan at least one iteration. Give specific feedback: What's good? What's missing? What's off?

5. Too Much or Too Little Context

Either the AI has to guess everything, or the actual question gets buried in three pages of background.

Solution: Rule of thumb: If a smart colleague could handle the task with this info, it's enough for the AI too.

6. Ambiguous Instructions

'Make the text better' - better how? Shorter? More formal? More persuasive?

Solution: Use specific verbs and clear criteria: 'Cut it in half. Replace passive voice with active constructions.'

7. Not Checking AI Answers

AI can produce convincing-sounding misinformation. Blind trust risks embarrassing mistakes.

Solution: Always verify facts, numbers, and sources yourself. Tip: 'If you're unsure, flag it' reduces hallucinations.
